Spring 2020

Venice is a living, breathing work of art floating on the sea. Despite its reputation as a theme-park city, around its narrow waterways and ancient buildings remain secret hideaways and a way of life one might think had disappeared long ago. To truly “see” Venice, you must immerse yourself in living community she is, observantly explore its abundant visual history, seeking its charms that are hidden in plain sight and which will be revealed only to you.

During this immersive workshop we will explore Venice’s photographic history, visit its modern day artisans, and look at what the future holds in store for this inspiring but threatened city.

In collaboration with two Venetian residents, the guide/art historian Dr. Christina Gregorin and the painter/sculptor Monica Martin we will discover how Venice is reinventing itself for the 21st century without loosing its unique heritage.

NAPLES – the soul of Italy – October 2020

Naples is gritty and chaotic yet, at the same time, beautiful and authentic. It’s complicated and unapologetic; always buzzing, always alive. It’s here-and-now and yet it’s draped in 2,000 years of colourful, vibrant history – a mixture of different historical periods that pitch up in one intense, often decrepit melting pot. Which makes it the ideal location for our TravelLIGHT Immersive Workshop.
